About Us


“PIZZILLO”, known as “a Poor Man’s Dough”, originated just after the 2nd World War in Italy. Famine was widespread, Napolitanean families full of spirit, inventiveness and originality, created this fried dough and seasoned it using limited available condiments. It became a staple food.

During this time, a young girl from the Neapolitan area, fell in love with her family’s dough recipes and kept them throughout the years, perfecting them for her own family to enjoy. She created a more tasty, light and flavorful pizza dough variation keeping true to the traditional old world classic. From those recipes, over the years she’s created many different flavors including a few salty and some sweets flavored dough bases. This young girl from Napoli is Pasqualina Modano, “LA NONNA” and our inspiration for all our pizzas and dishes.

At PIZZILLO, we share our love for generational southern Italian family recipes. We use only the highest quality fresh ingredients which savories allows you to taste our history. We must always stay true to our deep Napolitano family traditions, LA NONNA works among us and is part owner–and still keeps us aligned with her wooden spoon…(some traditions never change).
